“The Legacy Network has been wonderful and so supportive of Dress for Success DC- and has really allowed us to make some incredible things happen at our affiliate. For that, your support and also being a women owned business, we would like to honor The Legacy Network at our Anniversary event in October with the Corporate Leadership Award.” — Megan Goffney, Dress for Success DC Executive Director

The Dress for Success Washington, D.C. Affiliate (DFS DC), celebrating nine years of outstanding work in the DC metropolitan community, honored The Legacy Network with its Corporate Leadership Award at its Anniversary Cocktail Reception on October 20. TLN has been a proud supporter of Dress for Success since 2007, funding a rennovation of the non-profit’s Career Center in 2011. ”We are pleased to have such a strong connection to an organization that is helping women find meaningful employment,” said TLN Managing Principal Kris McMenamin. “This is what ‘giving back’ and ‘paying it forward” are all about.”

Last year, DFS provided suits to over 1,900 women, employment counseling to over 170 women, and mentoring services to more than 100 women in the DC Metropolitan area with the support of donors, volunteers, and community partners. Since opening its doors in 2002, DFS DC has suited over 10,000 women and provided job search, mentoring, and a wide range of other supportive services so that our clients avoid the obstacles that typically derail women battling chronic unemployment.

Also recognized at this year’s DFS event were PNC Bank with the Corporate Community Award, Fox 5 News anchor Shawn Yancy with the Community Leadership Award, and Sheryl Nadase Proctor with the Volunteer Award.

Dress for Success is an international not-for-profit organization that promotes the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support, and career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. Since its inception, Dress for Success has expanded to over 110 locations in nine countries. Dress for Success Washington, DC has suited over 10,000 of the more than 600,000 women served worldwide since opening its doors in 2002.
